Deuce. And it ain't close. Those bama teams were talented. Deuce at bama would've made Alexander look pathetic. He was even a better player in the pros. Just still on crappier teams. Evidenced by the fact Alexander was always voted among the most overrated players. Even by peers. Deuce was widely respected.

Alexander and it aint close. Alexander had absolutely no passing game to take pressure off him, no backup to spell him and no defense to save him. Bama won a conference championship in 99 with Alexander doing it all. McAllister could have never led his team to a conference title by himself.

And those OM teams were just coming off probation, while Bama was buying the best players available.

His NFL MVP award disagrees with you.
And what's up with people throwing in other backs? It was comparing two. Dense folks 'round here.

Shaun Alexander won an SEC title his senior season in 99 and then the year after he left, the 2000 Bama team won a total of 3 games including being shut out offensively by Southern Miss. That was a different Bama era than you are used to now.

Shaun won an NFL MVP award. For 5 or 6 years he was consistently a top 5 pick in fantasy drafts. If he was ever overrated, it was because his expectations were literally as high as they can possibly be.

This statement right here tells me you have no idea what you're talking about. Anything else is useless.

BS...they were both great backs and it's a close call no matter who you prefer. Hard to compare college stats directly as Alexander didn't start until his junior year...

Those bama teams were talented.
While we weren't devoid of talent, depending upon how you define talented, we did lose to La Tech at home that year. The prior 2 years we went 4-7 and 7-5...and the year after we went 3-8. Ole Miss had a better overall record, by several games, during that same time period...and OM never had a losing season in that stretch while Bama had 2...

Apparently not by the voters that mattered...as has been noted he won an NFL MVP...he was also named All-Pro twice, made the Pro Bowl 3 times, and won an NFL Offensive Player of the Year award as well...
