It's more likely he's here for 3 years, including the RS, which means he plays for 2 (if Mauk gets unseated next year, as he should).
I completely agree he won't be here for 5. I think Pinkel is hoping for at least 2 but may only get 1. Red shirt counts toward eligibilty for the draft. That's why I think if he's the best qb it is a waste not to honestly let him play because it's the way we always do it.
