Since this thread is about TE's & how Schottenheimer used them, he did turn this guy into a pretty good pass catching target.
Proven track record with te's at both stops? Excellent news for Uga fans.

The run game & developing TE's shouldn't be a problem at all for Schottenheimer at UGA. Play action under him should really effective under him as well. It's difficult at times to have real football discussions amongst the trolling & flaming.

Agree. Way too many trolls that aren't interested in real fb talk.
Using te's seems like a safe way to move the ball, especially with a new Qb, so this marriage may not be Te disaster miZZOU fans hope it is.

I don't get the Schottenheimer bashing. He really didn't have much to work with in terms of offensive talent with the Jets, Rams & Browns. He tried to make do with what was available on the ground & the utilization of the tight ends.
He also worked under 3 defensive minded head coaches in Rex Ryan, Jeff Fisher & Mike Pettine. He's probably thrilled to finally be working with an offensive minded head coach & I think the shackles come off for him now.
Just like his father, he relies heavily on play action. I'm interested to see how he does at Georgia because you guys probably have more talent on offense than any of his OC jobs in the NFL.
Oh he's going to throw to the backs out of the backfield as well. Nick Chubb has to be excited at the thought of getting the ball in space even more.

Our top 3 rb's all catch well, and those are often easy passes....unless you are Sanchez.

Sony and Marshall are even more excited than Chubb

I'm not familiar with Sony but I agree about Marshall as well. I should have said all the versatile backs on UGA's roster should be licking their chops. So should the TE's.
I fully expect you guys to really attack defenses down the seams with the TE. One thing Richt does well with his QB's is teach them to look off the safeties. You combine that Schottenheimer's usage of the TE & it's going to allow for those 15-25 yard chunk plays downfield to them.

Sony was used in the slot a lot today. He scored a TD in the slot early in the SC game last year.

Mizzou fans have shown great interest in our new OC, which makes this a SEC topic.
Do you know how UGA fans bitch about Bobo not giving the ball to Gurley against SC with the game on the line in the 4th Qtr last year? Go to this highlight reel of the Rams vs Chargers last year and skip to the 4th quarter at about the 3 minute mark. Make sure to listen to the guy on the video. This passing play call was the last straw for Schotty in STL.

Shaun fricking Hill.
Lol, it's so easy to scapegoat Schottenheimer on that one but cmon. He telegraphed that throw about as much as you can without yelling it out to the damn defense. Then he forces it in there seeing his receiver blanketed.
Again, Shaun Hill. The best offensive player on the field that day for the Rams was Tre Mason....

I'm a fan of these film study reviews.

The DB had Kenny Britt completely covered with the safety ready to jump underneath. Hill thought he looked off the safety by looking to his left but the safety never went for it. Hill had his mind made up before the snap he was going to Britt & paid for it. He forced a pass without even looking to see if the receiver was open first. That's why Shaun Hill is dried up dog shite as a quarterback. That was on the quarterback, not the play call itself.

Same here but sadly they are hard to find at times. It's easy to find poorly written articles across the web though. There also should be more shows on television besides the constant blabbering about the same worn out topics over & over again. I don't know of any college shows that do breakdowns of the X's & O's but I know NFL Playbook & NFL Matchup does it on the pro level.

1. That play was similar to the final play of the super bowl.
2. Rams didn't have an elite rb like Uga did.
3. Rams didn't have a few minutes left like Uga did.
4. Rams didn't call a naked bootleg like Uga did.
5. Qb shouldn't have attempted that pass into coverage.
6. The drive before was a 7 yard td pass.

I don't think yall are getting it. It's about situational play calling when the games on the line, not about how shitty Hill and Britt are. He called a stupid pass play on 2nd down from the 4 yard line with 56 seconds left. He should have ran the ball on second down, seen what that got and then decided whether to run or pass on third down. After third down you still have a chance to kick a field goal on 4th down to tie. If you are going to call a pass play it better be on third down and a play that only your receiver or the sideline has a chance at.
Posted on 8/4/15 at 9:55 pm to YankeeHandle
The rams didn't have the rb talent to justify your reasoning and you are choosing to ignore what happened a couple minutes before that.
Posted on 8/4/15 at 9:55 pm to YankeeHandle
What a crock of shite. Hill should have known better & simply should have thrown the ball away to live another down. Instead he forced a stupid throw into a high/low coverage that got picked off. Nobody made Hill make that throw. He could have looked at his second & third receivers in his progression. If those options weren't there, throw the ball into the damn first row.

It's not about the talent. Run the ball two more times, even if you don't score a TD you have an opportunity to kick the game tying field goal. Do you want a chance to tie and win in OT? Of course you do!
