Auburn went 1-4 in their last five games last year, but much like 2012, it didn't count
Things losers say…
"I wish we'd got them later in the season."
"Loosing 6 games if lost early are better than loosing 5 if 4 of them were lost late."
Games are played, results are final. I wish we didn't have to run the UGA, Bama gauntlet to end our season every year, but it is what it is. In years where things are clicking it has the potential to provide us bumps in the polls. In years where we are limping it can make us look worse than we actually are, such is life.
I have said every Auburn fan is concerned whether or not our defensive issues were scheme or talent. We will find out soon.
What I can't figure out is why an arkie fan isn't concerned that the bulk of their dline production is gone and they have a QB who at his best is a game manager? Oh yea, Bert said they were like the bad news bears.
I also can't figure out how a Bama fan who knew they got out of the Auburn game by the skin of their teeth when we were damn near broken on defense would suggest if we'd played arkie later in the season we'd lost without realizing if they'd played Auburn earlier in the season they'd lost. Of course, you have to except that ignorant logic to believe those would have been the results.

Think you meant to put AND there. Muschamp will help a lot as his scheme is better for SEC than what Johnson had you guys running, but this AU team is not as talented on D as some of your other teams have been. Well, not as deep. You've got talent up front and at spots on LB, but not as deep as you've been in past and your secondary is suspect.

Agreed, but they are more talented than they played last season. I obviously am hoping it was mostly a scheme issue. I have experienced first hand a team loose the confidence of its coordinator and watched it fall a part. As has been said many times if last years Auburn team had averaged 2 more stops a game last year they would have won 10 game maybe 11 and 2 close games would have been double digit wins. Getting 2 more stops doesn't seem impossible. What might be different is can the offense be as good this year as last year.

I agree with your whole statement. But Johnson also had some internal issues happening between he, the players and the defensive coaches. I think that contributed to the problems on defense and ultimately to his dismissal.

We played so much better at the end of the season, I wished we could have gotten a rematch with aubie.
What will the Arkansas excuse be after their loss to Auburn this season?
Arkansas played so much better in September, if only we could have played Auburn then?

Every high ranked team will benefit from a high preseason ranking, not just Auburn. Gives you more leeway with losses to still be ranked/better bowls/more coverage.

He's an Arkansas fan and hasn't had the history of his team being ranked that high to understand how this works.
