And for the life of me, I can't understand the apathy of the A&M fanbase around playing Mo. A&M fans act like playing Mo is beneath us, while Mo, more often than not, just keeps beating our arse. That's sip-level arrogance.

I agree. And it was like that pre-SEC. So it's not that we just would rather be playing other SEC schools instead of the other former B12 team... our fans were absent, quiet and compacent on Mizzou game days back when they were beating us in the B12.

Mizzou doesn't have a lot of historical football success. Not the kind that creates excitement when you play them. Before Pinkel arrived, Mizzou had cracked the 10 win barrier only twice in history, in 1896 and 1960.

Mizzou's current success is greatly discounted because the division they play in is perceived to be "down". And their past success is greatly discounted because the division they played in, the B12 North, was considered to be "down".

For the first decade of the B12, Mizzou was pretty mediocre. When Mizzou had their breakout year in 2007, all the traditional powers in the North had fallen on hard times. NU/CU/KSU were a combined 9-15 in conference play. And for the remainder of the 2-division B12, only NU made enough improvements to get back to a couple 10 win seasons. But even they were a mere shell of their former glory.

But the East isn't going to be down forever. If Mizzou keeps doing what they've been doing, I think their due respect will come.
