As an aside, there is also a tunnel that dates back to the 1800's under the trendy Beauregard Town neighborhood in Baton Rouge near the state capitol.

Tunnels running under campus? It’s exactly what it sounds like. There is an entire tunnel system beneath the LSU campus that has over two and a half miles of tunnels. There are many theories behind why it was designed, but it originally served the purpose of holding the campus’ steam system when it was built in the 1920’s. These underground tunnels are linked from South Campus Drive to Highland Road and past the law buildings. As tempting as it may be to explore, it is unfortunately off limits to the public.

I was interested to note your college tunneling page. Back when I was an undergrad at Louisiana State Univ, I began exploring the campus tunnel system. This was in the early 1980's, so much of this has probably changed since then.
The main system is under the "Quad" a central quadrangle which is bordered by the library and several of the major buildings for arts and sciences. This was easily accessed by a couple of points in the quad area. In this area, the tunnels range from wide walking tunnels to belly-crawls between steam pipes.
At this time, I located a map of most of the system (which I no longer have). Much of it is disconnected, meaning that a Quad explorer can't get to many of the interesting spots on other parts of the campus. There was an intriguing connection, I believe, to a tunnel which led beneath a road to the Journalism school building.

There are numerous urban myths about the vast tunnel network that exists under the University, but the truth surrounding the infamous tunnels is much simpler. At one time, tunnels were a fundamental part of construction design. Now they stand as a piece of history.
The tunnels are as old as the buildings that stand above them. They date back to 1922, the year the University started construction of the current campus. Beginning underneath the engineering shops, the tunnels run along both sides of the Quad before branching off to the Gym Armory, Foster Hall, the Pentagon and the Music and Dramatic Arts building.
Facility and Utility Operations Director Dave Maharrey said the 1.6-mile network’s primary purpose was to house steam coils, which provide energy for some of the old radiator style heaters on campus and chill water coils for air conditioning units.

Arkansas has steam tunnels as well running around under campus. I know there's entrances down by the football stadium and by Old Main.

Ole Miss has tunnels under it's campus as well. Apparently they're off limits and if you're caught sneaking in them you'll get into some serious shite.

Utility tunnels are actually pretty common, particularly in hurricane-prone areas. Not trying to shite on your topic, I think it's a good topic. I just don't think LSU's utility tunnels are that interesting.

There is an Auburn clone oak tree planted on the Alabama campus. I planted it several months ago. One day when its big enough I'll say where I planted it.

There are a few old sinkholes on campus. The stadium was built into one and consequently underneath the stands there is a freshwater spring that continues to flow.

We have several nuclear reactors on our campus. No one knows where they are except people with access to them.

Looks like every campus has tunnels underground.
A&M's supposedly has motion sensors and cameras or some shite.
I like being here so I'm not taking my chances poking around and getting in trouble.

Despite common belief, we do have a trophy room in our football facility.

Not my picture and no idea who the people in it are, but we call it "The Dragon Room". Its an open area underground connected to the storm drain system by the music building with a giant mural of a dragon and other little creative pieces of graffiti. Worth ruining a pair of shoes to check out.

Since we're sharing tunnel artwork (it's extensive under the TAMU campus, courtesy of decades of audacious cadets) ....

Texas A&M utility tunnel pictures posted here were taken as part of an authorized visit and tour by General Ramirez to document “tunnel artwork” in the Corps Dorm area. Careful safety precautions were followed to provide these pictures of different areas within the utility tunnels. However, it is important to note that unauthorized access to the utility tunnels at Texas A&M is strictly forbidden due to risks that exist with high voltage electrical systems, high pressure piping, and high temperature utility distribution systems that can cause serious injury or death. Any attempt at unauthorized entry to the utility tunnels at Texas A&M will be reported and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
