1796 was the last year Augusta was Georgia's state capital. Milledgeville was the state capital during the war. It is important too know our history before speaking of it.

Not only is this correct, but Kyge would agree with this.


Furthermore, Sherman marched straight into Milledgeville during his burn-everything-march-to-the-sea. But Sherman didn't burn it.




Does anyone know why Sherman spared Milledgeville?

And for bonus points, does anyone also know the Athens connection?
