Sort of a spinoff thread.
I say yes.
If we define success by conference wins and prestigious bowl appearances.
Then Petrino > Bret

Seriously, that was a good one. I'm even upvoting it.

If bert shits the bed this year, I say yes.

If we're being fair, Petrino had greater success at Louisville then he did at Arkansas.

Petrino had more SEC wins in his first year at Louisville than Bert did in his first year at Arky

Easily. Bert won't even come close to at Arkansas to the succes Petrino had at Arkansas.

Legit question. Even though he's a frickhead, Petrino is the better coach.

Can Louisville win the ACC with an 8-5 season?

when will aggies admit sherm was better than sumlin?
when can we just outright say sumlin sucks and the only reason he's had any success at a&m is because he let jff take the ball and do whatever the heck he wanted to with it?

Bert has the unfortunate experience of coaching in the SEC west. If they were coaching in the same division, I'd take Bert if for no other reason than all the players kicked off other teams Petrino is currently taking will eventually backfire.

Petrino probably has an easier path to a bowl each year. The ACC is a decent conference, but there is pretty big drop off after the top two.

Et tu Old Sarge? Et tu?
Fine. Lets go there.
Yes, Petrino will, if he stays at Louisville, most likely have more conference wins. Probably not more big bowl games.
So... TCU and Baylor. The whipping boys of the state of Texas. The guys hanging out with Rice in the glory days of the SWC. Will they have more conference wins then the Aggies? Go to better bowls?
Will Houston have more conference wins then the Aggies?
You probably don't have to worry too much about Texas State and UTSA. Though both programs should do just fine where they are once they get on track.
It is easy to pick your shots. If the Aggies win more conference games then Baylor or TCU next year... well then feel free to walk real proud and talk real loud.

In the only common opponent last year (Georgia), Bielema outscored Petrino. And he started with a total rebuilding job, while Petrino inherited a successful team.
Petrino's offense sucks against teams with good D-Line pressure, and that is why he will never win anything.

Well Sneaky P won a BCS bowl, something Bert failed to do 3 times.
