I was born in 1969. One month after I was born we beat Alabama in Tiger Stadium. It didn't happen again until Saban arrived in 2000. Our home record without Bama owning TS would be utterly ridiculous. Now you see why LSU fans hate Bama so much and why Saban going there was such a punch in the gut. It was akin to the Yankees/ Red Sox curse before Saban got there. It's been broken, but there is no doubt our defense let us down when it mattered in '12 and '14. I respect the hell out of Alabama, but I absolutely fricking hate them.

It wasn't just the '12 and '14 Alabama games that we gave away, it was all the supernatural and mystifying other close losses to them:

1985 14-14 tie in Baton Rouge - Ronnie Lewis misses GW 21 yard FG at a harsh angle (thanks Arnsparger)

1998 With LSU leading late in the 4th quarter in BR, Bama scores 2 TDs on the same identical play - a fade route to Bama receiver who had the same LSU DB tip the pass in the same manner. both TDs set up by LSU turnovers.

1999 (although this was at Bama) With LSU about to score game winning TD from near the Bama goal line - Josh Booty inexplicably tries to sneak into the right corner of the EZ, with TWO LSU receivers waving their wide-open arms in the back of the EZ.

2008 In BR. With LSU leading 17-7 and driving, Lee could have crawled for a first down, but instead throws an incompletion.
And in OT after LSU blocked Bama's FG, Lee throwsn an INT in the back of the Bama end zone on the first play.
Lee was responsible for at least 14 of Bama's points on a Pick 6 and another INT.

2009 At BD With Bama driving, LSU's Patrick Peterson clearly intercepts a Bama pass, with control, and """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" B O T H """"""""""""""""
feet in bounds, but the Replay Official in the Press Box (an Alabama and Tuscaloosa High alumnus, gee what a surprise) says promptly "the ruling on the field stands" with NO EXPLANATION.

Then come 2012 and 2014.

In between those two games, you had the 2013 game at BD, tied 17-17 early in the fourth, Bama throws a sideline pass to midfield incomplete, and, you guessed it, the official calls PI on an LSU DB, WHO DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH THE RECEIVER. And, you guessed again, next play - TD. Game over....

But, we shouldn't hate Bama.

K. Gotcha Chief........
