I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but isn't Saban kind of overrated?

I mean aren't there at least 20+ coaches in America that could win as much as he has with the talent he's had?

After his 15-20 5*'s he has every year, the rest of the roster is stacked with high high 4's. it's just insane to think about the talent and depth.

Eh. Is he the best strategist and teacher? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. But he is better than anyone in the country at doing the #1 thing successful coaches do: surrounding themselves with the right people and personnel. IMO, that has been Richt's achilles heel since day 1 in Athens (but it also seems like, for the first time in the 15 years he has been here, he has a truly good staff from top to bottom. I can't point out a weak link).

I'll never understand this mentality of Saban's coaching ability. Yes, there's a lot of talent. But that's his job...to assemble a great staff and roster to compete at the highest level possible. All of that talent doesn't equate a championship. You've still got to turn them into a functioning unit.

You're not going to have a perfect balance of experience at every position, each and every year. Frankly, Alabama has been hurting for talent and experience at DB since 2012. With early departures and recruiting misses, 2013 and 2014 were way down. Obviously. The last two classes has seen a massive infusion of talent there. We shall see if it pays off, or the last two years are truly a trend.
