This is one thing that people don't fully grasp, I don't think, especially as they try to disparage UGA's lack of success recently. Yes, nick saban is undoubtedly the best coach in the SEC...by a pretty wide margin. It's also notable that he has more 5 stars than the two 2nd place teams combined. Not only is he the best coach, but his roster is stupidly more talented on paper than everyone else's too.

For all the people that say 'Richt is such a great recruiter, why doesnt he win more?'...no, saban is a GREAT recruiter. These numbers prove that.

I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but isn't Saban kind of overrated?

I mean aren't there at least 20+ coaches in America that could win as much as he has with the talent he's had?

After his 15-20 5*'s he has every year, the rest of the roster is stacked with high high 4's. it's just insane to think about the talent and depth.

I also don't get the reasoning behind "Saban has such great players, so he should win every game. We don't have as many great players, so we shouldn't be expected to win as much."

Whose job is it to get the great players on campus? Why do some see recruiting as a peripheral aspect of a coach's job rather than arguably the most important thing that coach does?
