I've never heard the mental illness excuse used for minorities. The racist will say "they have no mental illness, they are born criminals, it's in their DNA"....I've actually seen that on a message board.lol. I mean they are on drugs like prozac, adderall, trazodone, alcoholics(one on every corner in the hood). Then those kids get hooked on those drugs. People in the hood are also popping pills just like that boy that murdered the church people. He's not the only one that got into trouble for pills, drugs, etc.
Someone link me a site to wear the mental illness excuse was used for a thug when he committed a crime.
Exactly.
When it is minorities they are either claimed to be born that way or they are villiainzied using their past.
When it is a racist killing, it now needs to be explained using ulterior motive or explanations because God forbid these people admit racism is a big issue.

I don't see anyone saying racism isn't a big issue. But you can be racist and mentally ill. Just like you can be a gangbanger and mentally ill. Just because you choose not to read/see the discussion over violence in neighborhoods (especially the debate of can addressing mental health reduce gun violence, there are several article on that) and declining mental health care doesn't mean it wasn't talked about before this issue.
And the "oh it's only being discussed because he's white" is as detrimental to the discussion as anything else. You're just sweeping it under a rug while claiming someone can only be racist, not mentally ill.
