My parents were gypsies, living in the middle of nowhere in northern Alabama. One day when I was a kid, a car driven by Phil Fulmer sped around a curve onto the road that I was crossing with my mother. She shoved me out of the way, but the car hit her. Fulmer got out of the car and knelt beside my mother. With her dying strength, she touched his face and cursed him with a single word.
"Fatter."
Years later, I heard he had found a way to put that curse into a pie. Whoever ate that pie would have the curse transferred to them.
He fed that pie to an up and coming coach. I can't remember. Was his name Bert or Bret?
