Had an aficionado train me, shortly before he lost a battle with cancer, to try a scotch neat for a sip or two and then add just one drop of water--just a drop. Then try it again. If you focus, it is amazing how much of a difference one drop of water has on a scotch. Give it a try.

This is the absolute truth. A very small dash of filtered water( less than a table spoon) will allow the bouquet to open up and the flavors to come out with much more clarity. With that said I never order scotch and water out, only neat and I'll add the water myself from a separate water glass.
