Five teams from one conference hasn't happened since 1999. It's just a product of five teams making it. You can't avoid them having to play each other. Michigan/Bama is the only non conference matchup in the opening round, and even then the two teams have already played twice this year.

I realize that you can't avoid them playing each other. But having them play on the first day? They could have split it up better and had 2 teams playing each other and the others be non-conference. I think it would have been a little more balanced that way. But I don't make the brackets so my opinion doesn't matter .
