How good can Ole Miss be? I think Arkansas Auburn and Bama will be the three toughest teams to beat in the West.

Msu will be tough cause its at their place and LSU has a sick run game.

But if Chad has better decision making than Bo and our run game clicks, i think we could be quite formidable this year?

Ole Miss and LSU are sort of in the same boat this season. If either team shows signs of life on offense they are going to be really scary. Y'all need a running game. LSU needs a passing game.

A better passer would help sure, but Ole Miss really needs a change of pace rushing attack to win I think. Something to keep teams honest, especially later in the season when there aren't that many surprises left in the bag of tricks and injuries start to pile up.

If Chad Kelly is as good as good as advertised, the running game improves, and the injury bug doesn't bite, we have a legitimate shot at challenging for and winning the West.

If Chad Kelly is not as good as advertised, the running game does not improve, or the injury bug bites, we'll be a 8- or 9-win team with a stingy defense again.

Pretty much that simple.

When was the last time Ole Miss had a QB who transferred from a P5 program to a JUCO...becoming the #1 JUCO QB before heading to Oxford?

The question is whether Kelly is Bo 2.0...or Brent 2.0.

For Ole Miss' sake, you should hope he can hit receivers better than he can hit police officers.

"Kelly was forcibly removed from the vehicle, officers said. Police said Kelly kicked and tried to swing at officers as they removed him from the vehicle. They said he resisted getting into a patrol vehicle and struggled with staff at central booking."

Just to be clear, you're asking:

If your QB is better
and your run game is better
and the rest of your team doesn't get worse
and the rest of the league doesn't get better
then will OM be formidable?

Sure.

Ole Miss should be strong on both LOS if they stay healthy, which should make them competitive in just about every game they play unless their QB is an abortion.

If they actually get decent QB play, I don't see why they can't compete in the West.

During the season:
Bo Wallace sux!! He's holding OM back! Lol rabble rabble

During the off season:
OM will never be able to replace Bo Wallace.

My stars...some of you are downright amnesiacs.
Last year Bo was routinely critiqued and skewered game by game, and now we must compare him to Kelly who has not played a down yet?

If NOT for Bo, we would not have beat Alabama or State much less had our football program on the fast track to relevancy once again.

I've been told Kelly is impressive even very good, but we'll have to wait and see how he compares to Bo. No matter HOW well Kelly does, his performance in NO WAY will diminish Bo's contribution to Ole Miss. What Bo did for Ole Miss in light of the state of the program when he came here was damn impressive. I will always be glad he was here and stuck it out. He's not only a good athlete but a kid with a lot of guts and courage.

I hope Kelly does as well. He is filling some big shoes.

Every Ole Miss fan I know makes the assumption that Laquon and Tunsil are going to continue on pace like their injuries never happened. Even if you ignore the real possibility that one or both continues to struggle with subsequent injuries, a WR making a 100% come back from a lower leg break and ankle dislocation, in less than a year, seems improbable.

Too many issues on the OL. Too many question marks overall, I don't think it's as simple as whether or not Chad pans out. Golson and Pruitt will be hard to replace, maybe they weren't 1st rounders, but both really contributed so much to that defense. There are players who can step up and start to fill those shoes but even then, the complete lack of LB's is going to be tough to overcome in a run first league.

IMO a 9 win season would be a huge deal. And honestly, only dropping 4 out of @Bama, Ark, @ State, LSU, @Aub, TAMU, and @UF is a pretty reasonable goal to shoot for. Having State, Auburn, and Bama on the road really doesn't help you guys at all. Auburn is the West favorite, home team almost always wins the Egg Bowl, and taking 2 in a row from Saban is probably possible but I don't have evidence of it ever happening.

To be better than Bo you basically need a heartbeat and not be Anthony Jennings

Nothing has ever been seen that would indicate that Chad Kelly is a good QB.
