My post may very well have been shite, but it was completely genuine.
Note that I have never once on this site said that I believed religious belief to be a barometer of intelligence. I believe that one's level of education correlates well with religious belief (or lack thereof) and there is substantial data that backs up that belief, but there are lots of educated idiots. I would say the percentage of nonbelievers who have truly thought deeply about what they believe is probably similar to that of religious people. Lots of people on both sides believe what they believe for bad reasons.
