Not boring if you understand the sport. American football is 5 seconds of action and 30 seconds of ads and waiting.

Every sport has flopping. Find any sport where the pros aren't drama queens. It just so happens that in soccer, if you lose your head, you get thrown out of the game, not some silly 15 yard penalty.

I understand the sport, and find it in the same 'meh' category as basketball. There is strategy involved, but soccer didn't get to be the most popular sport on earth because it's complex or has layers of strategy. Soccer is the most popular sport because its cheap to play. You need a ball. That's it. Everything else is quite optional. With a planet that has 9/10ths of the population in what Americans would consider abject poverty, that's pretty much the most important aspect.

The most complex sport for strategy is American football.

This is such a bullshite statement. You can say that about every sport but ice hockey.

Baseball? A stick and a ball
Football? An oblong ball.
Basketball? A ball that bounces and a some type of hoop.
Field Hockey? A stick and a ball.
Rugby? An oblong ball.
Wrestling? NOTHING.
Cricket? A stick and a ball.
Etc.

I don't see anyone in the backyard playing football in full pads.
