Well its true. Mississippi State is really a lot like North Dakota State, New Mexico State, Colorado State, etc. We just happened to be in the Southeastern part of the country when athletic conferences were being formed.
Mississippi State and Kansas State hit the jackpot. Shitty small town colleges that just happened to have well connected friends at the right time. We should be competing for Sun Belt titles and New Orleans Bowls.

And much like Kansas State, the success that fueled your program in the mid- to late-1990s was due in large part to the presence of an extensive junior college system within your state.
