1992 was the year the SEC expanded to 12 teams, split into divisions, and started playing a conference championship. Arguably the most important year in conference history.

It's not arbitrary at all. The SEC expanded in 1992. The SEC title game began. Why are Missouri and Texas A&M fans the only ones to question this every time it comes up? Years from now both will use 2012 as a point of reference.

Y'all newbies need to catch up on some history lessons. You will see a lot of threads that use 1992 as a cut off due to the SECC
