La'el is one of the good guys. He's not the kind of guy with a "thuggish" demeanor or behavior. Super nice, hard working, never been in trouble. Guy doesn't even have tattoos, not that that says much though.
Just saying, he is the last guy I would suspect to be involved in something like this. We have lots of players that have a lot more thug in them than La'el.
I would bet a lot of money he didn't have anything to do with this. I hope he is cleared soon, because this really sucks for him. He has already lost millions.

Unfortunately, the damage is already done for La'el. The difference between the #10 pick and the first second round pick (#33) is > $5 million. The difference between pick #33 and the last pick in the draft is < $3 million. The minimum UDFA salary is only 1 million less than that.
Worse, you could make some projections about how much that $5 mil would be worth if Collins had, say, gone on to invest most of it in stocks, mutuals, bonds, etc. The numbers would go up logarithmically, not linearly, which means, of course, that the more money you have the more money you make.
To put it simply, La'el already lost more money than he stands to lose going forward. He will never make it back. That life is over and I feel really bad for him.
