beyond physical talent, it seems like the ideal draft candidate NFL GMs look for is Brendan Fraser's character from "Blast from the Past"
-completely without guile
-no personal experience
-polite
-follows direction without question
The extent to which they overlook players who lack this tabula rasa persona is related entirely to performance. Of course, in the draft, everyone wants to get a buck for 50 cents so any reason for a guy to fall in the draft ends up becoming a reality.
This is also why Tebow and Michael Sam can't get a roster spot. The media sensationalizes it, acting like the reasons are completely different, but its actually the same reason.
