I have two major problems with comparing salaries.
One, salary comparisons rarely ever take cost of living into consideration. Is a Yale Law grad that makes $130,000 a year in New York right after graduation really making more than an Alabama Law grad that makes $80,000 in Birmingham right after graduation? No way - $80,000 in Birmingham is a lot more than $130,000 in New York on a cost of living adjusted basis.
Two, comparing salaries 15 years after the fact is not an apples to apples comparison. If you're going to compare salaries to measure schools, you do it right after graduation otherwise other variables will end up skewing the data.
