I was in Tuscaloosa the day after the storm. It was if a bomb went off. There were parts of Birmingham where you could stand in the path and see miles in both directions like a bunch of bulldozers lined up and just started plowing forward. We had debris in our yard in Homewood...which was miles from any kind of devastation. So surreal.
One thing I remember about that day is just how bright the sun seemed that afternoon before the storm. Just unusually bright as compared to a normal sunny afternoon.
