what the frick are you talking about?

Am I speaking Chinese here?

Bobo and Pruitt both have high-school/college coaching backgrounds. They're very experienced in how to motivate and reach kids/young-adults.

Grantham and Schott, on the other hand, come to UGA after more than a decade in the NFL. They're very experienced at dealing with millionaire proven high-football-IQ professionals. Still with me?

And what was the knock on Grantham, remember? The criticism was never about his schemes, but instead that he was not the best at teaching them to kids. Which brings us to Schottenheimer...........who according to testimony from the players does not spend as much time as Bobo did demanding that each detail is mastered. INstead, he moves quickly expecting everyone to keep up. Like drinking from a fire-hose, as they say.

Now, it could be that Schott just has a different style....and it will work just as good or better. But! It could also be Grantham Part 2 on the offensive side of the ball. EASILY!

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. That's all, I'm saying.

This is a legitimate concern that I happen to share. Ramsey already seems frustrated with it in a couple interviews I've seen.

FWIW... a coupla quotes on 247...

quote:

JSW, Mitchell & others told the media Tuesday that while Schottenheimer goes quickly installing the offense, the position coaches go over the finer points in every position meeting. The short install time equals more practice reps reps in the allotted 2hr practice schedule. It's no coincidence that the practice tempo has picked up.

The players are all on board and like how this is going. That's 95% of the battle.

With extra live reps, your position coaches get more opportunity to get hands on and correct technique WHILE you learn the plays and develop muscle memory. I actually think this is a really good approach.
