True or False?

I say true. He has averaged over 5 yards per carry over the last couple of years while backing up Mike Davis and has looked like a solid RB. It all depends on if they give Wilds 200+ carries or not.

David Williams is a good back too who could potentially steal carries away from Wilds.

Brandon Wilds has the potential to do it but I'm not sure he will. Teams won't underestimate him or Pharoh this year. Personally, I think Pharoh is damn near unstoppable but I'm not as certain about Wilds. That said, he good - real good.

Im going with no. Hes decent but nothing special. They should probably rotate him more. If they feed him too much his average will go down and he will get beat up. His running style just isnt as fluid as the great backs who can take the high number of touches and either deliver the punishment or juke by it.

This would be the big reason if he doesn't. Especially if Wiliams has a break-out game early in the season.

With that said, Davis got a significant portion of the load but still had to share time with Wilds and Williams, had injuries, and finished just shy of 1,000 so it's possible.

Williams may outrush Wilds, IMO.

I think he has the talent to do it, but it's just about him staying healthy. I don't think he will get games with 30+ carries like Lattimore did. He and Williams will split a lot of carries and probably get 12-20 each while they're both healthy, and whoever is running better will get more carries.

Wilds has speed and power. Williams has 4.3 top end speed and even better acceleration. Wilds probably knows the playbook better and he's going to treat this season as a contract season, as he has to show out if he's going to have a shot at the Pro's.

Wilds has gotten better each of the past 3 seasons, he avg'd:
4.5 ypc in '12
5.1 ypc in '13
5.5 ypc in '14
If he can get 5.5 ypc again he he would just need about 182 carries. Like the OP said, if he gets 200+ carries, I think he's a lock to break 1000 yards. The most carries he's had in a season though is 107, and he hasn't played a complete season yet though. Hopefully he stays healthy and gets a shot at doing that.

Wilds and Williams are both good, probably above average, backs.

Williams is an incredible talent in terms of 6'2" 220 legit world class speed at 4.3. He seems to like contact and he runs well behind his pads and his ability to move laterally is uncanny.

Wilds is just a beast who has had some injury issues. But he keeps coming-back and he always runs hard.

How they fare will depend largely upon how well our OLine functions this coming season.

Our OLine has been serviceable for most of Spurrier's tenure but we really need a dominating OLine if we really want to be good this coming year.

CrimsonFever ... thanks for making the observation and starting this thread.
