I don't believe I ever claimed that to be a good QB you had to throw for X amount of yards.

Huh you referenced his total yardadge and compared to his ranking nationally...so yea,you did.

Did I ever state even once that I watched 3 games and that constitutes my personal history of learning about UGA football? No, I didn't.

Never said that but it's has been your personal reference point for the particular season we're talking about and player and your so called expertease on the matter...which is shite.

never saw anything from him to put him into "really good" territory

Because you watched three FREAKIN games?!?!

quote:

or the "most overrated player ever @ UGA"as you described on the rant.

It was close enough.

Like I said go back and look at the numbers for UGA QB's in the 70's and 80's if you really want SOME POINT of reference (of which you have none except for 3 games on DVD)Hell look at Matt Robinson's numbers (who went on to become an NFL starting QB) and compare him to Belue at UGA

You giving me your opinion of Buck Belue is like me giving an opinion of Fran Tarkenton's
playing day's @ UGA to someone who watched him play in person almost every game. I have no idea how good he was...I know his numbers were shite but I also know they won an SEC championship and he went on to have a great NFL career but I wouldn't know the first thing about his playing career at UGA beyond his numbers.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl, and he was pretty much workmanlike-at-best. Middling talents can win titles on good teams.

Add in the fact that the game is very different now than then, and guys like Buck can probably best be summed up as "Good enough for their time." Which, to be fair, isn't a bad legacy. You can really only be compared with any accuracy to your peers, not to those who came well before or well after you.
