Who said anything about lasting forever?

I said the life of the device. For a smart phone, you're probably looking at 3 years or so. For a tablet or laptop, 5-6.

As I said, Apple's already making the battery pretty much an integrated part of the device. They're not user-replaceable. If they can go to a better, cheaper, and lighter technology they'll do it in a heartbeat and further increase their profit margin by charging you more up front for something that costs them less to purchase and support.

Yea, I agree. But the manufactures count on a big portion of their users to replace phones quickly. I would not look for them to make it last much longer. But I understand your point.
