Why don't you get it? Are successful high school coaches successful in college? Are successful college coaches successful in the NBA?

It's not a good predictor of success (see current coach at Mizzou).

And on the flip side I could say

- Fred Hoiberg
- Larry Krystkowiak

Krystowiak had a few short stints in college before coming to Utah (assistant for 2 short stints at Montana and ODU and head coach at Montana for 2 years). Hoiberg had none.

High school to college is a step up in competition. NBA to SEC basketball is a significant step down. It makes little sense to knock AJ for not having college experience when he's had plenty of success at a level higher than where he's currently employed. If a former college coach of the year were hired to coach a high school team wouldn't you expect big things from that high school team?
