Serious question. I've heard people talk about his system all year. We have a thread about buying into his system. So what, exactly, is his system?

I saw no discernible system all year. The closest thing I can come up with off of the top of my head is the 4 corners we'd run for 30 seconds and then force a shot or force a drive to the basket that wasn't there.

Defensively, I didn't see any one thing that stood out to me as a system.

Or when we talk about his system, are we talking about not wearing a hat to eat, not slouching and articulating your words properly? I don't say that to slam him, but mean are we talking about a change in the mindset of the team in how they approach life?

If you look at team he has coached, you can get an idea.
Defense:
Tend to be average at best. Don't foul, very few turnovers, solid rebounding.
Offense:
Run a Selfstyled high low, don't turn the ball over, good shooting,& average around 75 ppg.

Go watch his CMU teams. There's no discernible offense there. For all of the Norm-lover talk on TB, there was a lot of one-on-one basketball and basic screen and roll.

I hardly ever see anything really systematic in basketball, I'm sure it has something to do with not ever playing it on an organized level. I'm sure there are zone defenses vs man-man ect. But overall I think it's a stupid sport when it comes to systems.

Seems like coaches or more like jockey's, pushing or pulling the team on the court in certain directions, and managing who's on the floor.

The sport is just so bizarre when you really think about it or watch it a certain way.

In regards to the 'buying into the system' thread, this is what it was referring to -- buying into a culture of discipline.
