DE Devin Washington retires from football

He was a DE recruit we had a couple years ago, he was an avid recruiter for that class and a great student. He had a really bad concussion 2 years ago that kept him sidelined a whole season, then he got another last year in practice. He's decided to take a medical hardship scholarship and will finish his degree, but not play football anymore.

This is happening more and more, and will continue to do so moving forward.
Football is a sport that we obviously all love very much, but the human cost of it is starting to be realized. I question how much longer children will play it, and matriculate into HS/college/pros. It's certainly alarming to see the damage that CTE and concussions have done to these athletes.
Good on Washington for getting out while he can still think.
