Dammit ... I was hoping USC was going to be able to get that part of her collection. We (speaking of USC) begged and pleaded with her but the LoC paid her more money I guess ... to support the DiL and grandkids down in Houston.

Anyways, I know where every single one of those places are ... I could drive, within no-time, to each and every one of those places right now.
That collection should be in McKissick here at USC. It's total bullshite that the Feds stepped in and undercut us for those photos when we were so close.

I've stayed in the Mills House. It was pretty cool to see it in a photo from 150 years ago....

It's really amazing how they have been able to retain the original feel of that place all this time. I had a small hand in some of the tuck-pointing that was done some years ago and it was a remarkable undertaking at the time, both inside and out.
