You've developed a fantasy of your own based on your personal biases.
You just compared this potential hire to Mike Shula. Think about that.
What would you have said if Tennessee had hired John Gruden a couple years ago? I would have shite my pants. That's the kind of hire we're talking about. Someone who experienced success at the professional level, was fired, did analysis for a couple of years and then got back into coaching at the college level with no experience recruiting.
It's not like he's having to learn how to be a coach. You're making yourself sound silly.

Tennessee never even offered Gruden. I would not have been scared at all that Gruden would make UT great again.

Yes, I did. There are plenty of similarities, mainly being that both were professional coaches with no college coaching experience.
If being a great player who won championships and having been a head NBA coach were good qualifiers, why was Isiah Thomas such a failure at the college level?
