Please note that I said "...looking like maybe..."

I am inclined to believe that the NFL's overt reactions of late are due in some part to its knowledge that the problem is far more widespread than has thus far been reported, and they are scared that if more truth gets out they'll look like real assholes.

I could be wrong, though.
