Are we still considering Ronnie Clark and Ronnie Harrison at safety?
I'm guessing that the starting safeties will be Hootie Jones and Mo Smith.

Clark had moved to offense.
Harrison has a chance, but when was the last time a freshmen played at safety for us? Robbie Green?

I think Green was a redshirt frosh

Geno and Hootie. I don't see Saban kicking Geno off the team. I hope I am wrong though.

Hootie and Washington. Maybe Mo Smith.

It appears to be very fluid so we probably won't know for quite a while...right now it's Washington & Harrison, with Hootie at star. While I don't think Saban will kick Geno off the team, I don't think Smith will be starting, at least not the first couple of games any way...
From Spring practice thus far, doesn't look like EJ will be moving to safety...

Not sure where all the talk of him moving to Safety came from

Us speculating.
It does make some sense though. We have very talented and athletic young corners who will be pushing for playing time. EJ clearly lost a step after the injury and may be more suited to a safety role now if his speed doesn't return. With Geno Smith being dumb, it looks like we are a bit thin on safety until the Geno situation is worked out.

Yeah it's a good thing Harrison and Thompson enrolled early. Appears the coaches opted to move Mo Smith rather than Jackson

maybe it came from the fact that anybody with a little bit of speed left him in the dust, for touchdowns. and was a big contributing factor in bama going down to tosu. we were just hoping the coaches would wake up and be better coaches than last year. even us non coaches could see how badly ej was getting burned, repeatedly.

Let's not forget that Jackson hurt his knee less than a year ago and wasn't even expected to play last year. Usually takes a full year for players to return to pre-injury capability. Hightower was slow in '10 after injuring his knee in '09 only to return to pre-injury caliber play in '11.

It's a really dumb and stupid idea that surfaced in the offseason across multiple bama message boards.

Because it makes no sense keeping either EJ OR TB off the field. Cyrus has a CB spot, only one can have the other. So the best way to get them all on the field is put one of EJ or TB at Star or Safety.

Eddie Jackson and Ronnie Harrison please

As of right now I'm feeling Ronnie Harrison and Hootie Jones.

Ronnie is going to be so damn good. Kid is the total package. His frame and film looks like he could one day possess a clinton-dix skillset on a Mark Barron frame
Eta: will be tough for him to start from day 1 though. When it's all said and done he and Thompson are going to be a beastly duo back there. No. Fly. Zone.
