Florida probably isn't the greatest example just because of the number of colleges in state already creates a splintered fan allegiance to begin with. Then add an absorbent amount of pro teams on top of it with a population that has a decent amount of people who have migrated in from other areas (with other fandoms).

while that is true, in some cases, it isn't always true. Example: I have relatives born in Fl whose parents "migrated" there and are SEC fans now, as the generations renew those old allegiances brought from other states have a tendency to weaken.

But look at what the state supports, 3 huge schools in UF, FSU and Miami, and a myriad of different pro teams along with all those smaller colleges. I was just in Fl again to watch the Cardinals last week, and the mixture of people and fans never fails to astound me.
