It definitely does. There's nobody I've met since moving to Florida that's nearly as rabid about any college team as lots of people in Arkansas are. And Florida is a much better college sports state than it is a pro sports state. All of the pro teams are shite, but they still definitely steal a lot of the attention.

Florida probably isn't the greatest example just because of the number of colleges in state already creates a splintered fan allegiance to begin with. Then add an absorbent amount of pro teams on top of it with a population that has a decent amount of people who have migrated in from other areas (with other fandoms).

Florida is much more of a college state than pro state. The most popular team in the state is UF, probably followed by FSU. Nearly every professional team here struggles with attendance, you have to keep in mind all of the Florida franchises are relatively new.
