...and they do get supported. perhaps not to the extent you think they should....but there are competeing agendas for limited resources.

Listen buddy, I have an undergrad and grad degree from UAT but did both undergrad and grad work at UAB.... I was also a southside kid so I get where you are coming from.

It has been a long-standing complaint at UAB that they alaways feel like a second class citizen to UAT. I have never met a professor or academic type who didn't think there concentartion was the most important thing and the admin. was screwing them on funding. I well understand UAB's complaints and I am on the record as syaing that UAB should be supported in the academic arena. The football team was an abortion and complete and utter waste of money that could have been spent elsewhere. Take the $100MM necessary to float a football team and pur it into academics.

Makes sense and I see your point of view. While we disagree on the athletics, I do see your points and think there is a valid debate there. What irritates me is all the people who say this all about hating on Alabama, when it is about UAB. Sadly there is no way to disentangle the two issues. In agree with you completely on the sentiment of the faculty, and the cuts to benefits has only made that feeling more pronounced.

At the end of the day, I am not sure UAB football was viable --- I have an opinion but can easily see the other side of it. What I can say, is this whole process was a giant botch job and now you have a President at the University that the faculty, alumni and students do not want and cannot remove because he has the support of a few very powerful people.

Hope you have a good day and will see you in the next UAB thread (LOL)
