The fact of the matter is UAB can't survive on its own without the UA BOT. UAB would die very quickly without UA. There is no UAB school of medicine. It is the UA School of Medicine and the only reason UAB has any recognition.

Some Alabama fans claim a lot but never back it up with anything.

UAB brings it tons of money through research grants which are earned by the faculty and researchers working there, not by the grace of UA.

Why don't you supply something to actually back up what you say.

By the way here is an editorial undersigned by medical students at the UAB school of medicine.

We received an email with the results of a strategic plan that did not include input from UAB students as part of its development. It cuts scholarships and slashes athletics in the name of fiscal responsibility. We cannot help but see a parallel in the chronic underfunding of medical research in recent years -- also done in the name of fiscal responsibility. We trust that there is a more nuanced rationale behind the decision to cut UAB athletics today than simply a balance sheet. We do not believe that a balance sheet captures the true investment of the UAB football program. We do not believe that the president of the university, who represents the best interests of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, would cut the UAB football program, and by extension the entirety of UAB athletics in one form or another, because of a balance sheet. If it were an issue of a balance sheet, UAB would do what UAB has always done -- fight to find the funding and fight to find the will to move forward to dream big and to achieve big.

Just because some journalist groups the medical school and UAB together doesn't make it fact.

It is the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Look at the acceptance letters people get. It is just like the LSU medical school being in New Orleans. Nobody calls it the LSUN School of Medicine. UAB wants it to be the UAB school of medicine which is why they attempt to rebrand it as such but it is the University of Alabama School of Medicine.

ETA: Also talk to graduates. They call it the UA School of Medicine and I know personally multiple grads who hate UAB's attempt to rebrand it.
