I can't speak for other schools..but I know LSU has only done expansion under heavy demand for more tickets. We've done I think 10 expansions since first built and we started out with only 10-12k seats.

Sounds familiar. When I went to A&M (Class of Way Too Long Ago), Kyle field was a single level horseshoe and didn't even have a press box, seated maybe twenty thousand if they set up seats along the track and end zones. Now it's about to be the largest in the SEC and one of the largest in the country. CFB has become BIG business.
