Does being in a play in game officially count as an NCAA appearance if you lose?

I know we'll hang the banner either way, just wondering for my internal record keeping purposes.

It should IMO.

Isn't one of the play-in games between two #16 seeds who won their conference tourneys? Conference tourney wins guarantee you a tourney berth so it should count as one even if you lose.

I think it does. Just relish the opportunity to win a game in Dayton since Ole Miss' new thing is to brag about the venues in which they registered a victory before ultimately being eliminated.

It's not even a play in game anymore. It's the first round. That should answer your question.

Yes and for the record they are no longer referred to as play-in games. This is now considered to be the First round. Therefore, the Tigers, 'Cats, Dawgs and Hawgs begin play in the Second round.

Yes, if they're gonna call it a round one game.

I don't think it does. Kennedy still has only 1 tournament appearance as far as Im concerned unless we win this game

I mean, yall are still claiming Omaha from last year so I don't see the difference with this.

So, yes. Making the CWS and NCAAT are both accomplishments worth bragging over, even if you end up falling short.

FIFY, Ole Miss.

Seriously though, they are called play in games. You are playing your way into the tourney. Doesn't count until you make the field of 64.
