Colleges that get good attendance tend to win a lot, and are in regions where you don't really have any other baseball options. LSU is a good example of this; Miss St and Arkansas too.

The reasons people don't care for it- it's disconnected from the professional version of the sport.

In football, take LSU as an example: every season you see a number of guys you expect to make it in the NFL. Often, there are stars, not just guys who "make it". Think- Patrick Peterson, Odell Beckham Jr, etc.

Basketball- same thing. Any good team can have a potential pro star. Every season, there's one or two college guys, sometimes more, that an NBA team will not only draft, but will try to plan their team around.

You just don't get that in college baseball. You get a "star" (like LSU had in Anthony Ranaudo or Aaron Nola), and they might not make it to the Major Leagues for 4-5 years.
