Why? It's no secret that certain outposts in the US are horrid. Fortunately they are small, capable of getting better, and inherently fixable. We don't live in a nation where systemic problems make things near impossible to change or fix. We can get better, even change the class we're born into, and we should be very grateful for that.
ETA: In a country as large as ours, we're doing pretty damned good warts and all but we can always get better, imo.
