Pretty much exactly what I expected.

USC will be mediocre next year, and probably sneak into a regional. And Chad will keep his job. We'll prolong this experiment for far too long.

I dunno ... I just don't know.

It's Ray's baby. I'm not sure he let's his baby die a slow death, friendship with Chad or not.

Rather, allow me to share this with y'all.

Ray was sort of pissed at Hyman for firing Horn and hiring Martin when he did. The payout to Horn was the major sticking point with Tanner at the time IMHO. Plus, Hyman knew he was headed to A&M and Tanner knew he would be the next AD and he felt like Hyman should have let him make the decision.

I still believe the bigger issue for Tanner was the payout and how it affected his budget his first year.

Okay, with that said, )and that's some very insider stuff right there), why would Tanner ....

1 - Not give a friend another year?

2 - Blow the payout money when the budget is already very tight?

But still, he's not going to let his baby die a slow miserable death and he knows full well how tough it is to pull a program out of a downward spiral if you let it go that far.

BTW ... it was inevitable.
