If they somehow made it into Egypt. They have already blown up many things that don't "glorify allah and his messenger" in Iraq and Syria. I think they would because they are representations of pagan religions and their savage ways, with their mummification and gold and afterlives.

Probably. They're just dicks like that.

No, but they may deface the Sphinx which was done at least once back in the middle ages.

Well it would save us all the trouble if they did and the aliens took care of business for us.

I don't know if they would but the Taliban was into destroying art and ancient sculptures and such because of something in the Koran that they interpreted to mean that only Allah can make a likeness of a person,or some such crap.

This is hands down my favorite thread title of the last week or so.

The answer is no. ISIS would need the support of the Muslim Brotherhood to achieve this. Blowing up the pyramids, or even mentioning this, would have them in a war against the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian Military and the remnants of Mubarak's dictatorial regime. The one common ground between the Brotherhood and the Pan-Arab Nationalists is their admiration for pre-Islamic Egyptian civilization. The Muslim Brotherhood views Sharia as the perfection of ancient Egyptian civilization and the Pan-Arab Nationalists see a unified Arab Republic as a continuation of ancient Egypt's glory, where Western imperialists no longer control its territory and resources. ISIS would be fools to underestimate the reverence that Egyptians, even fundamentalist Salafists, have for their history.

Parts of Christianity are based on pagan religions.
