Can we talk about this "batter has to move to avoid being HBP" rule in baseball?

Just watched a Georgia player get nailed in the shoulder in the dead middle of the batters box and was called back to keep batting because the ump deemed he didn't attempt to avoid the pitch.
I know this is a new rule they're enforcing, but what exactly is the fricking point of it?

First I've heard of it, how terrible.

It has always been a rule & in my entire life of watching & playing baseball I have only seen it enforced at any level one time and in that one time it was very obvious the player was deliberately leaning over the plate. Why college baseball is now doing it is beyond me. You don't a lot of reaction time on a 90 mph fastball. However I cannot count the times I have seen batters lean in on a curveball in order to get the hbp.

Has this not always been a rule? It has in MLB for a while correct?
But since it dis favored UGA lets change it

It's solely to stop guys crowding the plate or discourage leaning into the pitch. It's very subjective for the umpire to say a guy was trying to avoid the pitch or not. It is meant to discourage teams like aTm who lead the SEC in HBP with 17, from cheating their way to 1st base.

Wut? The entire time I played baseball I was coached to crowd the plate and to try to get hit.
