Well we're gonna keep calling it a NC, because it pisses BowlJackson off

I think the proper term for it is National Title. Keep using that phrase and not only will you be accurate but the dumbass will equate it to National Championship.

That was a very fun sporting event to watch today. On the edge of my seat about the entire time. What a great effort!

I read through both threads today and his undee's were really in a bunch. It might take a diesel wrecker to pull his underwear out of his arse.

Either way it's technically a title right? It's also national right? I'm as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to wrestling.

Some of you wrestling afficionados correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that it is a national title. And it's a big deal. And it's prestigious. It is not recognized by the NCAA as a national championship. It is recognized as a national championship or title by the larger world of wrestling. I also believe 5th or someone said that there is a move towards the format of the National Duals to determine the NCAA national championship.

In my mind, the national duals make more sense when determining a team title. The tourney as it is now makes sense for determining national champions.

There have been rumblings in the wrestling community about switching the current NCAA format, but nothing yet. To put this in basketball terms (loosely), this is basically like winning the NIT/making the Final Four. It is truly the best indicator of team strength, as every person has to contribute. Even if you have no shot at winning, you can help the team by limiting the damage.

Watch the MAC tourney March 7-8th at the Hearnes or the NCAA's in STL as we go for the sweep!

PS. We did it in front of 15,000 Iowa fans in their building.

You know, I was thinking the NIT analogy as well. But I was thinking of it in terms of when the NCAA tournament NIT tournaments first started. Eventually the NCAA tournament became the gold standard for determining the national championship but it wasn't always that way. But at the time, there were 2 different tournaments run, each done a little differently.

All I know is this:

Iowa hosted the event

15,000 people showed up

BTN televised it expecting Iowa to win

Mizzou won, and now Iowa people want to say it's no big deal.

Yeah, 15,000 people show up to a televised WRESTLING meet, and it's no big deal.

Screw you sore losers. Oh by the way...YOUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM SUCKS AZZ!!!

I admit, I was surprised when I heard the results. From what little I had read this season Iowa had the rep as the team to beat... but Mizzou whipped them head on. People can hem and haw all they want... but to me when you have a tournament with the best teams in the country and you beat the bests teams in the country then you are National champions.

Own that title with some pride. Your guys really showed something with that win.

If you look at our track record vs. Iowa, this result wasn't surprising.
