Auburn lost to Alabama in 2011, while AJ McCarron was a mediocre quarterback. Period. That is why I listed him, and that was explained in my post.

Should that Auburn team not have lost to Alabama that year?

As I recall, Alabama beat Auburn 42-14 that year, with Auburn's only 2 touchdowns coming on special teams and defense.

I'm going to go out on a short limb and say even a below average AJ McCarron should have beaten that Auburn team.

For what it's worth, he was 18-23 for 3 TDs in that game.

Why does any of that matter? Who cares that Alabama was the better team? Does that change the fact that a player can be mediocre? Auburn's 2011 defense was atrocious. Everyone played good against them.
