A kid gave me a Winky Dink set for my birthday not knowing my family didn't have a TV.
When we finally got one we had to get an antenna with an electric motor so you could turn it to get one of the three TV channels that we could sometimes pick up.
I got a quarter allowance every week. 15 cents for a Saturday double feature plus cartoon and 10 cents left over for ten bubblegum baseball cards or those little wax bottles with sugar water in them.
Every gas station had attendants who pumped your gas, checked your oil and water and cleaned out your car with a whisk broom.
You flipped a coin to see who would hide in the trunk to save money going to the drive in.
Your first portable radio had tubes and you bought it at Western Auto.
"Husky" was a boy's jean size.

I remember getting ready for church on Sunday mornings and my mom would have the TV on the clock station.
It was just analog clocks and temp & barometer that panned left to right.
