I don't have any sources, but the piling on against McGarity seems a bit excessive. Maybe he's not as aggressive as some would like, but runnng an athletic department is not quite as black and white as people seem to think. At the very least, McGarity can serve as one of the checks and balances that prevent things from leaning too far in one direction.

Just like with our basketball team (or hell, with anything really) we tend to be reactionary based on what's happening RIGHT NOW. People really, really got fed up with mcg during the season and with good reason. The whole handling of the gurley situation was just an absolute nightmare from our entire athletic department. Not choosing to keep bobo, and make no mistake that was a choice by mcg, was also pretty confusing.

Fast forward a few months. We have a NFL vet as our OC. We have QC assistants out the wazoo. We've approved a $30M IPF that will likely be one of the few best in the country. Foley just got some very nice upgrades. Stegeman just got approved for some cool ones as well. I have issues with mcg, but he has definitely been doing things right the last couple months.
